Old Humarock Post Card Presentation
Part 7

31. Humarock Looking South  C. 1912
Ellie and Bob Smith of Revere Street contributed this awesome old card with a view of Humarock from Ferry Hill in 1912.  Their family has been in the house right of center on the river since 1910. All five of the cards shown in this set are the Smith’s cards.

It appears that there were only a handful of houses south of the bridge at that time and look at the size of the sand dunes as you go further south!  A fascinating picture indeed!  One of the best I’ve seen of predeveloped Humarock.

32. Looking Toward Revere Street C. 1950
This card looks across the river at Revere Street, showing Royale Brown's house on the right, Smith's house, and others on the river. Another nostalgic picture!

33. The Old Bridge  C. 1950
This is how Humarock first greeted many of us with a crickety old bridge with wooden sidewalks, which was replaced in 1952!  Covell’s Mobil station was on the left.

34.Sea Street C. 1950
The planks on the old bridge are in the foreground, the Bridgewaye was featuring Narragansett Ale; Steadman’s, and the Sea View Package store were on the left.

35. Beaching It  C. 1950
The water must have been warm that day.  Look at all the people in swimming!  White bathing caps were in vogue too. There have been changes among the cottages too; for example, the cottage behind the flagpole is now missing!  What happened to it? Thank you Bob and Ellie Smith for the use of these five cards.
